Assault weapons are not the primary, or even secondary source of gun crime in the United States, since you need to have a class 3 license to own one, otherwise it is only a ugly gun ban. Maybe it is because they had so many drive by bayoneting that they got rid of that option. The idea that military machine guns, hunters, and civilians have anything to do with each other is another form of you making idiotic and useless generalizations which are inflammatory and a character attack on all law abiding gun owners, not the 99% of non-law abiding scum that commit crimes with guns. Your ideal lambasting is boring. Your arguments are shallow and with out merit. You have consistently shown that by reading some crap on the internet somewhere, it becomes truth to you and the read of a book here or there with ideas that seem to agree with you, also become truth to you and the basis of fact behind your debate. Is there even the SLIGHTEST possibility that you actually don't know everything? Maybe something has eluded you once or twice in your life? Maybe everything is not Black & White. Simple. As easily categorized as you seem to think?
Just because you do not need something doesn't mean that NO ONE should do IT. So-called wise guys like you might not understand that using that powerful mechanical device (can't we just call them guns) to blast the hell out of those little clay pigeons is a lot of fun. No, the CLAY pigeon is NOT on the endangered species list... You don't "see how people can enjoy that at all" because you've probably never even tried it. If you have tried it and hate it, then you are perfectly entitled not to have to do it ever again. I happen to really enjoy target shooting too. It takes skill and lots of practice to be a good marksman. I've owned many guns now for about 40 years. I have never used a gun to commit a crime or during the commision of a felony. I keep my guns safely away from children and was responsible enough to teach my children about firearm safety. My kids (maybe older than you?) love to shoot too. I'm pretty sure that they don't rob 7-11's either. PLEASE don't try and take my right to enjoy SHOOTING SPORTS away just because you don't know what you are talking about.
If you knew anything at all about game conservation (as in little animals that hunters murder?) you would KNOW that hunting plays a critical role in keeping game populations in control. Have YOU ever seen a herd of starving dear? Stop hunting and they will over-populate. Then they will start dying in mass from starvation. You see, we have destroyed much of the habitat and predator animals that used to keep their populations under control, leaving ONLY starvation to control their numbers now. Starvation leads to weakened animals which can easily lead to extinction. So, just maybe those damned hunters are NOT so bad after all? Not everyone is a trophy hunter either. Ever tasted venison?
People have been able to legally buy "machine guns" for MANY YEARS now. Strangely enough, it wasn't until some stupid anti-gun fanatic found out about this that the hue and cry went out to ban the sale of automatic weapons! You see, not just anyone can buy them. Sales are strictly regulated. Muggers don't buy extremely expensive weapons to rob you or to hold up a 7-11. But, you think that all of a sudden, thousands of machine-gun Kellys are going to run berserkly around your neighborhood killing people. The people using automatic weapons illegally (drug lords?) did NOT go through BATF procedures and legally buy the guns they use. But, that really doesn't matter to anti-gun nuts. They want to ban legal ownership, which will have no affect on illegal ownership. Now THAT is brilliant? I don't think so.
I hate gun violence. Crimes with guns are already against the law. Doesn't stop criminals from using guns though. I am always amazed that some people actually believe that taking my guns away will stop criminals from using guns. How? I'v never had a gun stolen. I've never sold a gun to a criminal. The fcat is that people who want to ban all guns are just delusional. Once the legal guns are gone, the criminals will be "home free". LITERALLY.
I seriously doubt that any of this will make it thru a thick skull, so it will be interesting to see if you are as smart as you think you are or if you already have all the answers...
One thing I found out a long time ago is that it's really hard to debate anything with someone who knows it all and has a closed mind because if you start to make sense to them they just turn you off.
